Something told us people would like a short scale bass. And by something, I mean all the emails we get telling us you'd like a short scale bass. So, we have two. Here is the first one.

Based on classic P-bass design and configuration, this bass has a 30" scale. Compact and ready to thump.

This kit contains everything you need to build your guitar.  Just add your finish materials to the body and neck.  These kits aren’t just a collection of random parts- each neck has been custom fitted to the body to ensure a good, snug fit.  Includes an unfinished, predrilled body, fretted neck, all electronics and hardware. Wood is raw and unfinished, may require sanding and patching or other preparation prior to applying a finish.

Sold as a complete kit. Includes basic instructions.

Very nice kit

The short scale bass kit looks great. Checked everything out when I received it and was impressed. Haven't started on building yet but am expecting good results. This is my second Fretwire guitar kit.

Sweet Short Scale P Bass

This was my second kit from The Fret Wire and both have turned out great. This kit had a loose neck joint so I had to shim that a little. The frets required a good level, crown and polish but it now plays great! I’m really happy with how the body turned out. I stained it red with Rit dye and finished the neck and body with True Oil. Overall I’m very happy with this sweet little bass!

Nice little bass!

I enjoyed putting this together and it plays and sounds great! Not getting any buzzing and the action was easy to set to a comfortable height. The kit included everything needed, the body holes are all pre drilled so no guesswork. It's nice to be able to cut your own headstock and apply a finish of your choice. The wood used for the body is pretty lightweight, so this guitar won't weigh you down. I upgraded the pots to push pulls to give it a bright switch on the volume, and two tone cap options for the tone pot. Overall had a great experience putting this together!
