This is my first build. Been playing for so many years, I can’t remember when I began. It’s been quite a while since I have done any music on a serious note!! (insert humor)
Trying to get into recording, and wanted a modern “Metal” guitar, but don’t have much $$$.
Also, I was always about playing, but never put any thought into actual instrument setup, so decided to build instead of buy, so I could learn more about my instrument; without fear of destroying a perfectly good guitar. It is just recently finished, and as I found with my newly acquired skills, these are not bolt together, and you have a guitar. Frets are not level. If you do additional electronic shielding, other parts may not fit correctly.
But, as I said, I wanted to learn about guitar set up: This project gave me that opportunity, from intonation, to string action, fret dressing, proper Floyd Rose set up, and electronic’s connections, I now feel more confident about my understanding and abilities to properly set up all my guitars.
The only alteration to the basic kit, I added a Seymour Duncan Crunch Lab at the bridge position.
All in all, a good way to learn about guitar setup.
