Comments: The stain is home-brew. Pthalo Blue oil paint (think Bob Ross), but Master’s Touch brand from Hobby Lobby, mixed with Klean Strip Green Odorless Mineral Spirits from a local Ace Hardware. There is some stain on the neck too, but I can't remember if it was Puritan Pine, or Natural (both Minwax colors). I just wanted the grain to liven up a bit.
Pickups were quiet, so I stuck some Seymour Duncans in. With them, I had an extra hole, so I plugged the regular output jack's hole, and mounted it on front where one of the tone knobs had been. You can tell I didn't grab the right species of ash -- it came from a pile of firewood, so it's local to Maine.
The action is a bit high at the moment, only because I can't got the neck set right. I boogered a shim in there and it played better, but I didn't make the joint look very nice, so it's (the shim) gone for now.
